Frequently Ask Questions
Will a Sunstream sauna fit in my apartment?
Yes. The Mini is designed specifically for small homes and apartments.
Do I need special power or electrical work?
Not for the Mini!
The Mini runs on a standard household outlet. Nothing to upgrade, install, or rewire. Simply plug it in.
How long does assembly take?
Typically about an hour for two people.
Panels slot together cleanly like legos. No tools required!
Disassembly also works the same way, allowing for easy moving if necessary.
Approximately how much will my sauna cost to run?
A typical sauna session including heating time won’t exceed one hour. The following running costs are based on $0.45/kWh tariff from your electricity supplier:

How hot does it get?
The maximum temperature setting of our Sun Stream Saunas is 149’F (65’C). It’s important to note that the actual cabin temperature of the sauna is NOT the key factor. Unlike traditional heat & steam saunas which rely on temperature alone, a Far Infrared Sauna heats the body directly. You can expect to sweat just as much as you would in a 190’F+ dry sauna!
Does it actually make you sweat?
Yes.
Even people who struggled to sweat in other saunas say Sunstream gives them their first deep, reliable sweat.
Can my sauna be placed outside?
Since all of our saunas are made from untreated timber to ensure they are free of toxins, they are not suitable to be placed outside.
Is the heat safe? What about EMF and materials?
Sunstream uses very low-EMF and low-ELF infrared heaters and non-toxic materials that do not off-gas in your home.
Their construction avoids plywood, particleboard, synthetic glues, and other materials that can release fumes when heated.
This is a major reason people choose Sunstream over cheaper brands.
Where in my home can I place it?
Anywhere indoors with a level surface.
It does not require special ventilation and it can sit flush against the wall.
How long does it take to heat up?
Just 10–15 minutes, depending on room temperature.
This is repeatedly mentioned in owner reviews.
What is the warranty?
Sunstream offers a Lifetime Warranty for residential use, covering the entire sauna cabin and all infrared heaters.
What’s the difference between the Mini and the Evolve models?
Mini: smallest footprint, perfect for apartments, seats one comfortably.
Evolve: larger interior, more room, premium glass-front look.
Both use the same heaters, same materials, and same build quality.
Do you offer help deciding where to place it?
Yes, during your consultation, we’ll walk through your layout, power access, and placement options to ensure a perfect fit.
Do you offer help with delivery and setup in NYC?
Yes.
Delivery is coordinated specifically for NYC apartments so the sauna gets into your building and apartment smoothly and safely.
(We’ll walk through the exact plan for your building during your consultation.)
How often do people actually use it?
Anywhere from 2-7 days per week! Typical sessions are 20 minutes to an hour.
Once it’s in your home, it becomes one of the easiest wellness habits to keep.
What is the difference between an infrared sauna and a dry sauna?
The main difference is the way the saunas are heated. A traditional sauna uses a sauna stove which heats special stones. Water is then ladled onto the stones creating steam, which in turn heats up the sauna cabin. An infrared sauna uses infrared heating technology to heat the body directly. Since there is no water involved, no plumbing is required, meaning the infrared sauna cabin can be placed in any room of your house.
Should I wear any clothing during my sauna session?
You should ideally be nude or using 100% cotton white towels! If you must wear clothes, try and use natural fiber clothing. You don’t want to be wearing polyesters and other toxic materials, as the heat will release these into the air, which is not ideal for your detoxing experience.
